16th - 22nd Jan
A bit of a quieter week this week due to Matthew being on tour, Tinu busy with her many other jobs, Lily rehearsing in a space in Clapham and me doing a play at the Young Vic. January is suppose to be a quiet month!
I spent the Monday enjoying sitting the sofa room and reading and getting on with the pile up of emails. Tuesday and Wednesday was much the same. Our open sandwich was a bit quiet but Anna brought artist Joe Deighan and sound designer Keegan Curan to the space. We feel incredibly lucky to have a space so central that we can share with other creatives or come to for formal or informal meetings. On Thursday it was busy in Platform as they had one of the wonderful Hatch events. We were all there in spirit but unable to attend. Sounded and looked like it went down excellently though.
On Friday Anna used the space to Research and Develop a new show called Invisible Man, based on the book by Ralph Ellison. Actor Clarence Smith, cellist Laura van der Heijden, percussionist and musical director Sola Akingbola and composer Milton Mermikides all worked together through the freezing January day to create some really fascinating harmonies and make some exciting discoveries. This continued on Sunday and we were able to record some of our ventures.
On Saturday Lily used the space to rehearse a selection of plays written by women for a new writing initiative for female playwrights Fizzy Sherbet produced by Tamara von Werthern and Olivia Trench and directed by Lily with actors Martin Bassindale, Claire Lams, Anna Wilson-Jones, Nicolas Pimpare, Lila Clements, Evelyn Lockley, and Andrew Hawkins.
Meanwhile Anna sat in the back room doing dramaturgy for a new play happening later in the year.
